about

A collab between 2 artists based in the middle east, Pooja B & Tarik Omar, 'Freek the phobes' is one of those tracks that came together without much effort.
"We went into the studio with a solid vision of what we wanted to express and how we wanted to do it". The bassline was written on a 303 and we pulled the vocal sample from a speech by Angela Eagle, an MP in the UK who is a prominent activist for the LGBTQ+ community in the UK.

lyrics

The speech has been edited to the following:
"We know that the motivation of some involved in this are reactionary,
And they are to return us to an era where the LGBT should get back in the closet and hide and be ashamed for the way they are.
We are not going to get back in the close or hide or be ashed for the way we are!
Nor are we going to allow a generation to go through what people in the 80's had to go through
And nor are we going to allow this to happen.
The LGBT, do not deserve to be treated with anything other than equality and respect
And this diversity needs to be represented.
It's not propaganda, it's not trying to turn people gay...which I've heard about....
I'm not sure its possible to turn people gay,
But there certainly would be no gay people if you had to turn people gay.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
But their respect, their rights, their rights to have an equal welcome.
Not to be bullied,
Not to be treated as if they are lesser,
Not to be made to feel that somehow there's something is wrong with them,
Not to feel suicidal,
Not to be called faggot or lesser,
Not to be humiliated....
all of this is what we are talking about. plain simple decency.

And this diversity needs to be represented.
It's not propaganda, it's not trying to turn people gay...which I've heard about....
I'm not sure its possible to turn people gay,
But there certainly would be no gay people if you had to turn people gay.

Not to be made to feel that somehow there's something is wrong with them,

Plain simple decency!

Plain simple decency!
